The Society has been going for over fifty years, and has a current membership of around
30.
We cater for all types and levels of philatelic interest. We hold meetings from 8 to 10 pm on the third Tuesday of each month, from the third Tuesday in September to the third Tuesday in June, at St Andrew’s Church Hall in Herbert Road, Wimbledon.
There are two car-parks within easy walking distance.
Wimbledon main-line and underground station is about 5-10 minutes walk away with
Merton Park tram stop also about 5 minutes walk. Access to the hall is wheelchair-friendly.
Our season’s meetings include talks and displays by expert philatelists on a variety of subjects, but we also have visits to and from other societies, and members’ evenings where members can show some of their own material.
There are opportunities for buying, selling and exchanging stamps and covers on club nights, a small philatelic library is available for members’ reference, and the mid-evening
tea, coffee and biscuits cost only 20p. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and other members are always willing to share their expertise.
We have an Exchange Packet circulating where members may buy stamps at advantageous prices and where they can sell any philatelic material they don’t need.
Four times a year we get together with Kingston, Epsom & Ewell, Wallington & Carshalton
and Twickenham Philatelic Societies to hold a grand auction with material from all four societies.
